We love the American Advertising Awards (informally, the ADDYs). At year-end, the entry process forces us to pause and revisit every piece of work we created throughout the year. When a job goes out the door, you tend to put it out of your mind and focus on the next. Until the ADDYs roll around—then you get to remember all the best work you made together.
Entries cost money, so we unfortunately have to cull the pile of work before us. It’s more art than science, and there’s no telling whether the judges’ sensibilities will align with our own in any given year. But when the judges agree that we created something special for our clients, it moves on to the regional competition with a chance to move on further to the national level
. It’s the only awards show that consistently brings smaller agencies and budgets together with global behemoths in the name of creativity. That’s one of the reasons we love it.
But the main reason we love it? On February 19 we get to catch up with industry peers and celebrate the best work in St. Louis. We’d of course love to lift some hardware, and we’ll raise a beer to those who do. Hopefully, we’ll do plenty of both.
